Current Outreach Ministries:
April’s Mini-Mission | United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
We are seeking finanical support for UMCOR this month.
On March 27, First Community and many other United Methodist churches celebrated UMCOR Sunday. Formerly known as One Great Hour of Sharing, and observed on the fourth Sunday in Lent, UMCOR Sunday is one of six Special Sundays in the United Methodist Church.
WHY DO WE CELEBRATE SPECIAL SUNDAYS? United Methodists celebrate on specific days to unite and make clear the commitment of the church as the people of God, and to give everyone the opportunity to contribute to special programs approved and supported by the Church.
HOW DO YOUR GIFTS SUPPORT UMCOR? As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to respond with extravagant grace. Through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), we are able to make a difference in the lives of communities and individuals whose lives have been upset by storms, wars, fires, displacement and climate change. This offering underwrites UMCOR’s “costs of doing business,” allowing UMCOR to keep the promise that 100% of any gift to a specific UMCOR project will go toward that project, not administrative costs.
YOU change lives!
Without your generosity, this ministry could not be achieved. United Methodists gave $1,921,619 last year towards ministries funded by the UMCOR Special Sunday offering. Giving allows us to make a difference in the lives of communities and individuals whose lives have been upset by storms, wars, fires, displacement, and climate change.
